Breaking the pattern of Self pity

"Hello young lady, are you alright? Do you know your name?" Blank
"The ambulance are on it's way, is there, anyone.." at that a shlop of semi words would stream out amidst a sea of vomit. I'd look up at an Ocean of faces, some concerned, others perplexed. I am one of the lucky ones, as the universe would have it, despite the absence of a medic alert bracelet, which i recommend as key for any Epileptic. There was always someone who knew instantly that they were dealing with someone who suffered with Epilepsy. People who know key things such as putting something on the back of your head to cushion your fall during a seizure, turning you over on your side so you can breathe after the seizure and not interfering during the Seizure, having something ready if you suffer from Grand mals and feel sick after the seizure, but most of all keeping a cool head and calling the ambulance.
It's easy to slip into a pattern of Self pity after an Epileptic episode. Their unpredictable, your more vulnerable, and of course there's not just the Grand mal Seizure but the Grand Mal reaction of some of those around you. It is important to ensure you educate your friends, and if your someone who muses themselves by running commentary about your ability to spot the most selfish person in a crowd and make a partner out of them, dont. It is not what you need.
I once had a friend who despite her own mental health trials and tribulations and my intensive support, resented me dramatically for having Epilepsy. I was told with jaunt, "nope sorry i can't deal with that," and as soon as word of a Seizure arose rather than staying close to show support, i would be rushed home for fea of any public debacle, If i missed appointments because of ill health i was given the silent treatment, and calls were avoided. Luckily for me, she was not the only person on Earth.
There are many success stories about people with epilepsy having a happy and positive life. Keep your mind trained on the productive aspects of your life it will lessen the chance of a seizure. What i usually do post an epileptic fit is watch a series of hillarious comedies, i don't spend too long on the screen, i do some exercise, drink some relaxing tea, and talk to someone that will cheer me up. Sometimes i believe a seizure is the bodies way of exorcising all the pent up negative energy the body stores, and alerting your mind that you need to do something different. Maybe something that includes Yoga
